A Wellfleet Treehouse / WELLFLEET, MA

In 1974 when a local architect couple originally designed their home in Wellfleet, they dreamed of eventually adding a master bedroom, a full bath and back deck extending out into the surrounding trees.  In 2019, when the couple approached us to bring their home vision to fruition, we built a floating addition that looked as if it had been part of the structure from the day it was built.

Mirroring the exterior design of the main house and inspired by the landscape that surrounds the added master suite, we installed vertical grain pine walls that transition to custom cork tile floors. Custom lights, a closet skylight, sliding doors and strategically placed windows illuminate the space throughout.

Stepping outside from the original building, we added a steel rail deck to connect the main home to the en suite floating cedar-sided addition, complete with its own entry walk-in closet, built-in daybed, kitchenette,  private toilet area and desk nook.

The star of this nature lover’s paradise is the indoor/outdoor shower, designed with a royal blue rubber flooring and wall paneling, and a sliding door that opens to the serenity of the world outside.
